Reporter: What does design mean to you? What concepts have you always adhered to in terms of design?
Cai: There are no two identical leaves in the world, and there is no perfect design. On the contrary, design to me is more like an attitude towards life. It is not just a door, a set of furniture, or a background wall. The one that suits you is the best.
Reporter: What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of Japanese architecture or industrial design compared with our current domestic home furnishing industry? What do you think we can learn from?
Cai: At present, simple and modern home styles are the most popular in China. The design pursues simplicity and grandeur, allowing rational logic and perceptual art to fully collide and integrate. Japanese industrial design is more people-oriented, focusing on the interaction between products and people. It is a craftsmanship with specialized skills. This is what we need to learn, but we must not copy it, otherwise it will appear cramped and stingy. No design aesthetic.
Reporter: Do you think travel has any inspiration or help for your design?
Cai:There is an old saying in China: "Ask the canal how clear it is, and only the source of running water can come." I personally believe that design itself is a matter of lifelong learning, and the meaning of travel is It is to broaden our horizons and open our minds. Through this event, we can connect knowledgeable people in the industry to delve into current industry problems, constantly be exposed to pioneering design concepts, and even lead the trend of the times.
Cai Meng is studying in Japan
"Reading thousands of books is not as good as traveling thousands of miles." The meaning of travel is to experience learning and collect those subtle emotions. In Cai Meng's understanding, this can truly satisfy the design intention of "human settlement".
